The 2025-2026 Budget provides for the gradual raising of the eligibility age for the old-age pension from 60 to 65. On 8 July 2025, Nando Bodha issued a solemn warning to the government against any attempt to introduce this change through the back door of the Finance Bill.
A reform that demands dialogue
The Leader of the Rassemblement Mauricien called for a moratorium and a national consultation. He argued for keeping the pensionable age at 60, with targeted adjustments, rather than a reform imposed without consultation.
A sustained campaign
A month earlier, he had called the Budget "a budget of announcements and illusions", regretting the absence of any cut in fuel and gas prices. In July 2026 he would renew his call for national consultation on pensions and for the retirement age to return to 60.
