On 30 April 2021, less than three months after resigning from the government, Nando Bodha joined Paul Bérenger, Leader of the MMM, Xavier-Luc Duval, Leader of the PMSD, and Roshi Bhadain, Leader of the Reform Party, to form the Alliance de l'Espoir.
A joint May Day message
The new platform introduced itself to the Mauritian public the very next day, on Labour Day, with a joint video message. The message, delivered notably by Nando Bodha and Roshi Bhadain, denounced the government's management and called for hope and unity at a difficult time, marked by the health crisis and its economic and social consequences.
An opposition taking shape
For Nando Bodha, the alliance was the first step in a renewed commitment outside the MSM. The platform, later renamed the Entente de l'Espoir, brought together parties with different histories around a shared demand for good governance.
Less than three months later, the former minister would launch his own party, the Rassemblement Mauricien.
