On Friday 23 July 2021, at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis, Nando Bodha presented the Rassemblement Mauricien, the political party he had founded. Twenty-five founding members stood alongside him for the launch.
Bringing people together
The party's name says why it exists. The Rassemblement Mauricien makes bringing people together its cardinal value. Its symbol is a flame, representing struggle and patriotic commitment, uniting three elements: earth, fire and water. Its colours are terracotta and blue.
An unsparing diagnosis
In his speech, Nando Bodha warned of "moral, social and economic bankruptcy". He spoke of the burden of debt, the erosion of purchasing power, the handling of the health crisis and the scourge of drugs, and called for a united opposition. He also set out his vision for society, "Maurice de demain" (Tomorrow's Mauritius).
Roots in the regions
In the months that followed, the party spread across the constituencies, with regional launches, including in Constituency No. 10 in February 2022, and the creation of a youth wing. Its stated priorities were clear: democracy and meritocracy, the fight against drugs and corruption, and reform of law and order.
