National Crime Agency: the Rassemblement Mauricien ready to go to court

With Me Kailash Trilochun, Nando Bodha denounces the bill and announces a constitutional challenge should it be passed.

On 22 September 2026, at a press conference in Ebène, Nando Bodha and Me Kailash Trilochun set out the position of the Rassemblement Mauricien on the bill establishing a National Crime Agency.

A bill seen as dangerous

The two lawyers were particularly critical of the method of appointing the future agency's director under the transitional provisions. Me Kailash Trilochun described the bill as a "many-headed monster", and the party announced that it would challenge its constitutionality in the courts should it be passed. "The devil is in the details," Nando Bodha summed up, questioning the qualifications and powers of the Director General appointed by the Prime Minister.

Towards alternative governance

At the same press conference, Nando Bodha confirmed constructive discussions with Paul Bérenger and the Front Militant Progressiste with a view to an alternative model of governance. The question of the Prime Minister's post will be discussed "at the appropriate time": the priority, in his view, is to put together a competent team.
