On 15 December 2023, during the National Assembly debate on the bill establishing the Financial Crimes Commission, Nando Bodha declared himself fundamentally opposed to the text. In his view, it is a law that will have to be repealed within the first hundred days of any new government.
The question of appointments
The following day, in an interview with Defimedia, he spelt out his objections. He challenged the appointment of the new commission's Director General by the Prime Minister alone, and argued that such choices should be entrusted to a constitutional appointments committee. He also called for a law on the financing of political parties and for legislation governing police powers and criminal evidence.
Redrawing electoral boundaries
In the same sitting, examining the report of the Electoral Boundaries Commission, he welcomed the move towards greater equality in the number of electors between constituencies, a precondition for fairer representation.
